Avon Magnetics - About Us

Welcome to Avon Magnetics - Taking your Business Seriously

Based in Christchurch, Dorset in the UK, Avon Magnetics is a privately owned company employing a workforce with good skills matrix and a wealth of market knowledge. Operations run from a purpose built factory with automated test and manufacturing plant, giving flexibility in batch manufacturing and advanced technical solutions.

The origins of Avon Magnetics can be traced back to the early 1960s with the formation of FH Windings, which subsequently acquired Tridem Transformers and became F & H Tridem. The direction of the company changed away from volume products and Avon Magnetics Limited was formed in 1992 refocusing on its transformers and inductors, its core competence.

During the mid 1990s a new management team was established and acted quickly to gain ISO accreditation. This was soon followed by a number of individual approvals gained from world class manufacturers in the civil aerospace, military, and process control market sectors. As a consequence the company’s turnover increased significantly and during the latter part of 1998 it was necessary to relocate to a purpose built design and manufacturing facility.

Today Avon Magnetics prides itself as being one of UK's leading designers and manufacturers of transformers, inductors and associated forms of wound magnetic components, including those formerly manufactured by Gardners Transformers Limited.

Our production capabilities incorporate MRP with full material traceability management, microprocessor controlled winding equipment, automated laminating plant, vacuum impregnation and enveloping vessels, microprocessor controlled and conventional curing ovens, automated test equipment. From simple inductors to complex three phase transformers, Avon Magnetics has the resource.

The quality management system of Avon Magnetics is assessed by Lloyds Register Quality Assurance under the terms set out by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS). The company operates fully in accordance with the requirements of AS9100 Revision C and BS EN ISO 9001:2008, and holds approval certificate number LRQ 0955917.
